Ri- "You better hope I don't know who this is..." I never was a morning person. Not that you can really call 05:00 morning. More like the end of a very good night.
"I’m sorry" I didn't recognise the voice on the other end of the phone. "But this is important, I need your help!"
I hung up.
If there was one thing I knew about important phone calls, it’s that they aren't worth answering at five o'clock in the morning.
A few hours later though, we get contacted by a Mrs. Kruschtov who claims that she urgently needs our help locating someone. Figures, people always vanish in this city. Most of them don’t come back.
Anyway, she’d heard about our success in the Fieldenstein case and wanted to hire us, and we needed the cash, so we told her to show up at the office around one o’clock.
Ain’t no rest for the wicked, and in this city, there aren’t anything but.
"The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good; nothing but blind, pitiless indifference"
- Richard Dawkins
