The party is now level 7.

Blackwood is dead. Hearing about the widespread "infestation" in Blackwood the Izalin military swept in and murdered the entire population of the village. The party in turn killed every single soldier holed up in the village, several of whom died begging for mercy.

The Paladin died. He got better.

On the plus side, you saved a tribe of mostly infected goblins from being safely quarantined.

The assassination spree in Auricien is still in full swing. Picking a fight with the bodyguards of the most powerful king of the alliance went about as you would expect.

Responding to a request from General Genden (whom you met in Sissyfus - he was the guy who replaced the general who was killed) to help locate the crater of a meteor the party returned to the boarded off village of Misma, where an oversized tent covers a hole that goes deep into the Underdark.

The party had run ins with: One flesh eating flower, one giant spider, one Huge Husk Scorpion, four more giant spiders, one Chwidencha (giant spider), two Hellwasp Swarms, one Hellwasp Swarm-animated Chwidencha corpse, one gelatenous cube and one Filth Eater Troll. Exploring further into the tunnel, the party tripped over a wire which set off a loud alarm. They fled before trolls or other dangers could come out at them, and returned to the surface to receive healing, and maybe pick up an ally. Returning to the surface they notice that the Chwidencha corpse has gone missing.

Necromancer Wizard, if you for any reason are interested in what a Chwidencha looks like in terms of games mechanics, you'll find it at page 109 of Drow of the Underdark.

The party is now level 8.

The Paladin remained behind for extended care. Wizard Quarian and Brave Jorin continued to explore the Underdark, and eventually found the crater of the thing that fell from the sky. It was something alive. A lump of unskinned flesh that lay quite still at the centre of the crater, surrounded by miniscule parasites that bargained telepathially for the party's silence. The party tried to kill the flesh but found that they could not, and so decided to bring it back up to the surface again, to be inspected by the soldiers of Izalin. One paniced run away from an enormouselectricity spewing mind controlled denizen of the Underdark later the flesh was handed over to the evil empire. High Priest Alliace of Tiamat and Izalin turned up in person to reward the party handsomely, and you now have access to the Royal Library in Izalin, as well as a solid discount on magical items produced in the kingdom.

Quarian received a Sending from the tribe of goblins who live in the forest near the ruins of Blackwood, calling once again for help. Brave defenders of goblinhood that they are, Quarian and Jorin took on a mission to exterminate a village of Bullywugs (Frog people) who were threatening the explosive expansion of goblinhood across the Contested Lands.

The Bullywugs died quickly. Exploring the temple of their sleeping god, the two adventurers came across something... bad. A bridge of magical force that gave way partway through, causing Jorin to fall into darkness. Darkness, and undead. Two fireballs, one Summoned giant eagle and ~30 grapple checks later, Jorin rose from the pit, his pretty face ruined and almost sucked dry of blood. A trauma that will no doubt haunt him for years to come.

Then they stepped on a trap that caused the temple to begin filling with water, allowing the undead in the pit to escape their captivity. Before this was discovered, though, they continued down to the bottom floor, and the dungeon. Here they released a great many prisoners, including 20 humans, 10 goblins and the party's old friend Caries. Jorin's dog mysteriously died. The body was stuffed into a backpack. Somewhere around this point was when it was discovered that the undead had escaped and were murdering all the prisoners. A mad dash towards the exit on the top floor followed, during which around half of the prisoners were pulled under the surface by the undead horrors lurking beneath. A poor orphan boy with an injured leg was lifted up by Quarian and mysteriously exploded.

The exit was reached, and that is where the party is now. Carries was too weak to manage the rush, and had to be carried by Jorin. Although Caries was more than happy to provide healing for the brave heroes, he was unable to heal 50% of the damage Quarian took, as well as Jorin's ability damage.

Jorin got kidnapped, and returned with a little more muscle and a new religion. His dog is alive again, and totally harmless and not all of a sudden a lot smarter than it used to be.

Aaand Gavin died again. This time while the rest of the party was playing cards. In a row boat. Today we learned not to get into grapples at the bottom of a swamp without backup.

Gavin was resurrected and decided to leave the party and explore his close relationship with a tiger, and feeling themselves a little bit outnumbered Jorin and Quarian picked up a nameless druid who really likes dinosaurs. Together with Caries the party decided to go to the Abyss in search of followers of Ramenos to interrogate about the undead parasites. After a long march through the jungle of Ramenos' layer, Caries got eaten by a gargantuan worm. Jorin saved his body in the nick of time, and Caries was reincarnated into a goblin. He is no doubt plotting revenge.

Deep under the jungle on the surface Ramenos' realm is a frozen wasteland, through which flows the river Styx. The party managed to make their way across the river and the frozen waste with no ill meetings (Curse you, time shortage), whereupon they finally reached the city dedicated to Ramenos. Unfortunately, the city was in ruins, its beautiful facades only an illusion. What was not an illusion was a necklace of midnight blue pearls on a statue before a sacrificial pit. Quarian decided to claim it for his own.

There will be a session this week, at 13:00 if that works.

Now. You guys are starting to get up there in levels. You've done a few favours for some not unimportant people. I had one person ask if we might consider the Leadership feat to get cohorts. We'll talk about this on Sunday. Would you guys want to attract cohorts and followers now that you are starting to become famous (assuming you get out of the Abyss alive)? If you did, the game would naturally get harder to compensate, but more importantly this would make you much more noticable to NPC factions, and would get you into more situations where you are encouraged to pick sides and/or gain personal power. You could do that without Leadership too, but as someone who has been a player before I know only too well the difference in ego trip potential of being "just a leader" and having rules saying you are allowed to lord it over x people who do what you tell them to. As I said, we'll discuss it on Sunday, but feel free to discuss it here as well.

The session today will begin at 13:00, as usual.

Last session began with the further exploration of the ruins of Ramenos' city and realm. The party discovered a batch of very unfortunately cursed items, including a Bag of Devouring, which the new party member very tragically decided to crawl into in search of treasure.

Other treasure included a Helmet of Opposite Alignment, which the new party member decided to try on, before breaking down into tears and abandoning his adventuring career to go atone for his crimes.

The new cleric totally isn't going to do anything stupid, though.

Lastly amongst the cursed treasure was a sword of great power and evil that, having been wielded once, kept reappearing in Jorin's hands whenever he got into a fight. He only sold it twice. Unfortunately, in the time between the first sale and the discovery of this strange property of the sword, it had already been sold on to a Barbarian woman who burned down a church to get her sword back. General Genden took it upon himself to reimburse the church using your reward money. It seems he doesn't like you all very much.

There appears to be some connection between the flood of undead and the living tissue that you have now twice found in the centre of meteor craters and handed over to the Evil Empire. What exactly this connection is remains a mystery, but the Empire has so far been willing to pay a lot of gold and flattery for possession of the strange flesh.

During the three years you lost while visiting the Abyss it appears that very few cases of the undead parasite have been discovered.

Though the necklace Quarian put on required divine intervention to remove from his neck, it does not appear to have done anything sinister since being stuffed into the old elf's backpack.

---

Rumours abound that Archleone, twelfth King of Izalin, has invited many of the leaders of Auricien to a Peace Conference. You will be encouraged to attend.

It's been a long time since the last session. Two of our players left the country in December, so we had a bit of a season finale. I would like to continue the campaign, but if that is to be we will need new players. The situation right now is that a brave band of heroes has killed the evil old king who was trying to take over the world, leaving his much less ambitious and more managable daughter in charge of rebuilding their empire. One of the players that left has gracefully accepted the burden of the position of the new high priest of the empire.

Where the campaign goes from here (If it continues) is very much flexible. There is still a threat to the world to be tackled in the form of a creature that has sent pieces of itself ahead as meteors that the party bravely sold to the evil empire to dispose of. Little else is known about it. With some of the party having retired, a new group could form that would stay mostly in the same world and try to prevent the threat, or they could wander the different Planes of existence seeking answers. I have ideas for either route, but much would of course depend on the wishes of the players and the party that forms.

I am open to hold the campaign in either Swedish or English. I'm using English here because that's how we played last semester, and because anyone can understand a recruitment thread in English. If only Swedish players are interested I'm happy to switch.
